Akvo’s efforts in the D2D porject on software tools focus on ensuring the improvement of our tools to address our partner’s needs and the support and embedding of the tools in our partner organisations and not on the software development as such. The activities in this project are divided over the Akvo tools: Flow, Lumen, RSR, Caddisfly and Akvopedia.
In 2017, focus will be on improving the connection between the Akvo tools and the requirements of our partners. One of the activities to improve that connection will be to set up "Tripods" for Flow, Lumen and RSR consisting of one member of our partnership team, the product team lead and a member of our marketing and communications team. For Flow, another focuspoint will be to decrease the loading time of large surveys, which are often used in WASH mappings. For Lumen - being a new tool - we will focus on building the internal expertise at Akvo to ensure we can share this expertise best with our partners. This includes having the development team take part in Lumen trainings to ensure feedback from trainings can be taken up directly by the development team. The work on RSR will include improving visualisation of aggregated data to help partners work better collaboratively.
Work on Caddisfly will focus on extending the array of chemical and biological tests Caddisfly offers; enhancing outreach of Akvo hubs to regional partners on Caddisfly by providing support from the AMS Caddisfly team for deployment of Caddisfly in regional programs and continuing product development and product validation in cooperation with various knowledge partners (TUDelft, IISc, IHE Delft, Deltares and others).
On Akvopedia, we will work to enhance number of visitors and page views through offering improved access with mobile devices; to enhance global coverage of visitors through offering content in major world languages (En-Sp-Fr-Chinese) and to extend content partnerships through involving network organisations.
